Prepare to have MMS fail you.

Let me know how it is. I was holding off on the developers preview for my HTC one M8 because I heard it wasn’t quite ready from prime time. I had issues when I had upgraded early to 8.1 so I decided never again

I’m going to keep my 920 running as is until I hear it works with W10M.

MMS already fails me, nothing new there

Come to think of it, nearly everything started to fail me when I migrated from my Lumia

Maybe Microsoft is trying to tell me something

It works. My old 920 has been running the build for a month or so

But, is it still in beta, or have they moved it out a public release? I cannot be without my phone functioning normally, or at least only as randomly poorly as it usually does.

Kind of on topic: Is it true Windows 10 for desktops will be free for the first year, and if you upgrade in that first year you do not have to pay for it after the first year?

Beta. It won’t be fully released until after Win10 comes out.

Yes and no. Windows 10 will be offered as a free upgrade for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 users for the first year. New installers and people coming from legacy versions (Vista and below) will have to pay.

Eh, I’ll wait. I have enough problems keeping the damn thing running when I have to use LTE anyway...

And ATT stores are always unbelievably less then helpful. I had it give me a sim-card error and then go to a black screen and refuse to return to the home screen until I turned it off completely. I had been using LTE heavily for a couple days (no internet at the new house) and it gets so freaking hot when using the LTE antenna.

I really, really want to hear something about the new phones they will have out later this year. Hopefully there will be another flagship device that isn’t enormous.

So if you have 7 or above and you upgrade, do you have to pay after the first year?

No. It’s not a subscription plan. Once you have it, it’s yours

Fun fact: This offer is even good for pirated / unlicensed copies. Microsoft will give you an unlicensed copy of 10 to replace your unlicensed 7 or 8. That way you know they love you and care about you, and would really like it if you purchased their product some day

Would have gotten better results if you had used the HTC SwearOnMeMum.

Freaking awesome. I wonder if I could upgrade to 10 (I have 7 now) and give my 7 CD to my sister on Vista.

nope.avi

Upgrading now just gives you the preview builds; no guarantee yet on being able to convert preview to release. Updating to 10 will require a current license, otherwise you’ll just get an unlicensed version. Upgrading to 10 also keeps the original license in check; it won’t be able to be used for multiple installs :(
